Biography short
Žanina Bilić is a passionate musician.
‘Her dense temper could not leave the audience indifferent’ a Croatian newspaper noted.
‘She showed the same enthusiasm and the highest precision that contributed to the success of new works’, another Croatian daily reported.
She studied piano in Croatia, Germany, France and Poland with Professors Vera Gornostaeva, Karl-Hermann Mrongovius and Marija Gvozdić-Horvat. She has performed in a number of concerts in Croatia and abroad – Japan, Germany, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Poland, France, and is a carrier of several distinguished Croatian awards. She performed as a soloist with the Zagreb Philharmonics, Munich Hochshulorchester, Croatian Symphonic Wind Orchestra.
Her repertoire focuses on 19th, 20th and 21st century music and music that is ‘hidden wealth’ – compositions that are not performed often, but deserve to be. Two contemporary Croatian composers Stanko Horvat and Vjekoslav Nježić have written pieces for her and dedicated them to her.
She currently lives and works in Zagreb, with her husband and daughter. Mrs Bilic can be contacted for concerts, performances, workshops, projects and events directly or through her husband.
