Epidaurus Festival

Music knows no boundaries, as the support arriving from Cavtat to our action shows as well! Intensive preparations are underway for the charity concert to be held for the benefit of the 'Upright piano for Pakrac' charity action. The concert is to be held on 27th September 2007 in Cavtat within the International music and arts festival Epidaurus. Ivana Marija Vidović is a young pianist form Dubrovnik and also the hardworking organizer and artistic director of the festival. It was her idea to feature a charity concert in Cavtat, after she had performed at a charity concert for the action in Zagreb this June. Revenue from the concert will be donated to the action. The festival itself will be held from 18th to 29th September. More information about the festival may be seen here. The festival is a good initiative and a valuable contribution to Cavtat's cultural tourism itinerary.

New take-off

Holidays are over and a new school year ahead! We haven't kept quite still during the summer holidays. We are very happy to inform that the company Elektroprojekt d.d. Zagreb hasdonated 3.000,00 Kn for the Pakrac music school! Our special thanks to the director Mr Kruno Galic and to Mr Vedran Juric whose engagement led to this donation. Mr Juric works at Elektroprojekt. Mr Jurić is a music lover himself and has visited our June charity concert held in Zagreb, which inspired him to engage even more. The result is great. Many thanks

May 9th

The charity action Upright piano for Pakrac is in full swing. Two months have passed from the aciton's beginning, and four months are ahead of us beofre the action's end. In Pakrac we held a successful introductory concert on 23rd April. We held a successful charity auction on 25th April. We successfully presented the action within the 3rd International annual conference on real estate market in Croatia organized by Filipović Advisory Ltd, on 8th May. We currently work hard on preparing the charity concert shceduled beginning of June in Zagreb. We plan a summer party beginning of July at the Croatian seaside. We received an lectrical Casio piano donated by the company Skala, a new model. Up till now we have raised a bit over 18.000 Kn. we would like to reach the goal of 117.000 Kuna. We received a ferw vauable offers with price reduction when purchasing the musical instruments. As the action will come closer to its end, we will draw the line, see how much we have raised until then and decide how to best distribute and buy - how many acoustic pianos and how many electrical pianos. As the action's organizer I whitness it to be a working challenge, demanding a lot of effort and work, but it is plentifully rewarded by the expected benefit for the children of Pakrac. And they want to be involved in music. The organizational team is doing a great job in supporting the action. It is a real pleasure to cooperate with such creative and active people. To all donators who have donated so far, many thanks once again. More about the action you may read at www.pianinozapakrac.com.

"When one does a thing, it appears good, otherwise one would not do it. Only later comes reflection, and one discards or accepts the thing. Time is the best censor, and patience a most excellent teacher."

will treat your perception with piano miniatures - waltzes. You are welcome to come and hear!

Carefully selected waltzes will be played prior to their opening in January 2007.

'Waltzes of Return', the programme presented in the last three concerts have now been refreshed and upgraded with new waltzes, gaining a new title: Waltzes of Inspiration' - yours and mine alike.

IInspiration issignificant in each aspect of our lives. 'Waltzes of Inspiration' will display warmth and silent pain, broken feelings and the exhilaration of hope, infattuation with love, noble suffering andwitty joyfullness...all that makes us human, all that makes usliving and pulsating creatures, and has served as inspiration tothe composers of these beautiful waltzes.
Be so kind as to reserve your tickets ASAP, by calling or sms-ing this number, latest by 12th December 2006.:

Ticket price: 20 Kn. Tickets are obtainable at the entrance to the premises. Revenue will be completely invested in maintenance of the piano, on which the concert will be performed. The piano was produced in Vienna, by the company 'Ehrbar', over a hundred years ago. I bought it second-hand in 1994. the piano has a beautiful, warm sound and an antique nuance in it, however it requires a rather demanding set of maintenance actions.

Looking forward to possibly seeing you,
Sincerely yours,
Zanina Bilic, prof.

September 1st

Dear All,

with an hour of beautiful music, I would like to create an hour of relaxation and enjoyment in music for you. Take the worries off your shoulders and dive into the lake of piano sounds.
I kindly invite you to a concert on 27th September at 7.30 p.m. in the pleasant venue of the National Association of Bulgarians in the Republic of Croatia premises, Kneza Mislava street 13, 1st floor.

As the seating capacity of the venue is limited, I kindly ask you to confirm your attendance to this number: 098 418 546. Tickets at the price of 20 Kn may be purchased at the entrance. The revenue will be invested in the maintenance of the piano. The piano on which the concert will be held is over 100 years old. It was fabricated by the comapny Friedrich Ehrbar, Vienna. I have purchased it, second hand, in 1994. The piano has a beautiful, warm, antique sound, but it requires demanding maintenance.

The programme will feature waltzes for piano solo, I have named the programme 'Waltzes of Return'. Waltzes for piano solo from the romantic and late romantic period are considered the most beautiful piano miniatures. The festive, but also intimate character of the waltzes; joyful, dancing, but also melancholic resonance have kept me inspired during the last six months of study. In the music of these waltzes one hears hope, but also ruined dreams; enthusiasm, but also melancholy; love exhilaration, but also bitterness of broken love relationships. A wide spectrum of emotions from a wide spectrum of situations from a composer's life or his imagination. My choice of waltzes for this concert is a bit off the beaten track - some of these waltzes are not performed often or have been forgotten. I love tracking 'hidden pearls', study and prepare pieces which are 'non-standard'. The popular pieces however cannot be made unpopular, therefore I like giving them a new meaning, my own personal interpretation.

Looking fDear Allorward to possibly see you soon!
